Still Secure, but not after Bush gets his hands on it...
Social Security is still secure. OK, it's got some bureaucratic problems, it runs a potential shortfall in 2042 at the earliest, but its still solvent. Essentially, it needs tweaking, not a complete overhaul or replacement.

Keep in mind, Bush was darn sure Iraq had WMD's. His adminstration played up the fear and paranoia. Expect the same in regard to Social Security.

Check out the details here.

MLK - Long live the dream...

The man is gone, but his dream lives on...

...long live the dream for freedom. (link)

Dr. King knew that America was a vastly powerful industrial nation, but it was severly backward socially, civically, and politically. Although primarily an advocate for advancement of civil rights for African Americans, he was also concerned with the social and political justice of all Americans, and he was concerned with economic justice as well.

Seeing the current direction of the political climate in Washington today, you'd think Mr. King's dream was long gone, but its not. I've spoken to people that still believe in the basic fundamental principles of what America is about; freedom, liberty, opportunity, and hope. America is worth fighting for. The dream of America is worth fighting for.

By using non-violence, and a progressive approach to politics, Mr. King was far more effective than if he would have been had he advocated violence. His compassion for the oppressor as well as the oppressed helped bridge the gap of ignorance that stifled opportunity and democracy for the African American, and for all the poor and downtrodden.

Here's to you Dr. King! You're dream of freedom and justice still live on, despite the backwards politics of the current administration. We all have the dream.
